Lineups expected as June 30 property tax deadline arrives

Regina Votes: What you need to know for election day

It's property tax day in Regina, Saskatoon and many other communities.

June 30 is the deadline for paying taxes due to the municipality, the local school board and the public library.

Traditionally, that means a steady stream of taxpayers lining up at city halls around the province. However, payment can also be made at banks, by mail and electronically. Many people pay their taxes monthly through their mortgage payments.

In Regina, those who miss the deadline will have to pay a penalty of 1.25 per cent per month. Anyone with unpaid taxes by the end of the year is considered to be in arrears.
