Lexington police are collecting toy donations. Here’s how you can give
The Lexington Police Department’s annual Christmas toy drive begins Monday.
The department is asking for people to fill a large police vehicle with toys through mid-December. The donated toys will go to Toys for Tots for distribution. Toys for Tots is a program run by the U.S. Marine Corps to collect new toys and give them to children.
Toys can be donated on these dates at these locations:
▪ Nov. 29 at Learning Express, 5175 Sunset Blvd., suite 12
▪ Nov. 29-Dec. 14 at The Lexington Police Department, 111 Maiden Lane
▪ Dec. 1 at Walmart, 5556 Sunset Blvd.
▪ Dec. 6 at Lexington Pavilion, 5119 Sunset Blvd.
▪ Dec. 7 at Walmart, 5556 Sunset Blvd.
▪ Dec. 8 at Lexington Pavilion, 5119 Sunset Blvd.
▪ Dec. 9 at Walmart, 5556 Sunset Blvd.
▪ Dec. 13 at Lexington Pavilion, 5119 Sunset Blvd.
▪ Dec. 14 at Learning Express, 5175 Sunset Blvd., suite 12
On the Learning Express donation days, the store will give a 25% discount on toys that will be donated, the police department said. The store also will give customers a 25% “comeback coupon” that can be used in January. Learning Express will donate $500 worth of toys to the department.
The police department also is accepting cash and check donations to be used for purchasing toys.
