Last minute Labor Day travel deals

Labor Day is just a couple of weeks away, but it’s not too late to find a great travel deal to make the most of the precious 3-day weekend.

According to Hopper, a flight prediction site, there are three places catching the interest of travelers. So far, the most watched destination for Labor Day is Chicago, where the average airfare for a round-trip ticket is $232. The second most watched destination is Denver ($258), followed by Las Vegas ($286).

With that knowledge, we scoured the Internet to find you the best deals in some of the most popular Labor Day destinations.

Chicago

The Second City never fails in delivering first-rate entertainment. During the day, visitors can can catch some rays and relax on one of the cities beautiful beaches, or check out some music at the North Coast music festival (Sept. 2-4) or the Chicago Jazz Festival (Sept. 1-4).

Cheap routes:

Los Angeles (LAX) to Chicago (ORD) for $315 on American Airlines

Hotels:

According to HotelPlanner.com, the average nightly room rate in Chicago is $152. After a quick search, we were able to find some really affordable rates. The Holiday Inn Express Chicago has rooms for $144 a night, and Swissotel currently has rates starting at $159 a night.

Denver

Venture west and enjoy the unofficial end to summer in the great outdoors. After working up an appetite hiking on one of Denver’s many trails, head over to the Taste of Colorado to enjoy grub from 50 local restaurants and food trucks. The Denver Art Museum is also offering free admission on the first Saturday of the month.

Seattle (SEA) to Denver (DEN) for $245 on Frontier Airlines

Hotels:

From Sept. 4-6, guests can stay at The Hampton Inn and Suites in Denver/Cherry Creek for $99 a night, which includes breakfast. Those looking to stay closer to downtown can snag a night at Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center for $175 a night.

Las Vegas

If fist-pumping and pool parties are on your itinerary, Las Vegas is the place for you. Over the weekend, several high profile DJs like Steve Aoki, Afrojack and Kygo will be performing at nightclubs on the strip.

Atlanta (ATL) to Las Vegas (LAX) for $333 on Spirit Airlines

Hotels:

If you’re on a budget, Candlewood Suites Las Vegas is a two-star hotel with rooms going for $85. For a four-star option, try the Renaissance Las Vegas Hotel downtown for $122 a night.

Orlando

Thanks to the prevalence of theme parks, Orlando is always a great getaway for families. After the hot and hectic summer months, September is an ideal time to visit places like Walt Disney World – the crowds will be smaller and the prices cheaper. If theme parks aren’t your thing, visit Wild Florida for a chance to see alligators, eagles, turkeys, wild boars, and other animals up close. For Labor Day, the wildlife park is offering free entry for kids 12 and under, limit four per family, on Saturday, Sept. 3, and Monday, Sept. 5.

New York (JFK) to Orlando (MCO) for $271 on United

Hotels:

Rosen Plaza is offering a two-night package for $169 including 25% off of restaurants, including Jack’s Place and Café Matisse. Additional nights are available for $99 plus tax.

The Point Orlando Resort is offering a rate of $109 for a one-bedroom suite, with free breakfast and no resort fee.

New Orleans

The party never stops in New Orleans, and Labor Day is no exception. From Aug. 31 to Sept. 5, the French Quarter will host Southern Decadence, a celebration that many refer to as “Gay Mardi Gras.” With its daily events and parades, the celebration of LGBT culture usually attracts more than 160,000 participants from all over the world.

If you prefer to eat your way through NOLA, be sure to check out the Louisiana Seafood Festival from Sept. 2-4 at City Park.

Dallas (DFW) to New Orleans (MSY) for $271 on American Airlines

Hotel:

The Springhill Suites By Marriott has rooms downtown starting at $133 a night. Rooms at the Intercontinental New Orleans, a four-star downtown hotel, go for $144 a night.
