Need To Know: Parkit Enterprise Inc. (CVE:PKT) Insiders Have Been Buying Shares

We've lost count of how many times insiders have accumulated shares in a company that goes on to improve markedly. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of examples of share prices declining precipitously after insiders have sold shares. So we'll take a look at whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in Parkit Enterprise Inc. (CVE:PKT).

What Is Insider Buying?

It's quite normal to see company insiders, such as board members, trading in company stock, from time to time. However, rules govern insider transactions, and certain disclosures are required.

Insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing. But it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing. For example, a Harvard University study found that 'insider purchases earn abnormal returns of more than 6% per year'.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At Parkit Enterprise

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when Independent Director Brad Dunkley bought CA$1.8m worth of shares at a price of CA$0.25 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of CA$1.50. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Parkit Enterprise insiders may have bought shares in the last year, but they didn't sell any. The average buy price was around CA$0.30. To my mind it is good that insiders have invested their own money in the company. But we must note that the investments were made at well below today's share price. You can see the insider transactions (by companies and individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. Does Parkit Enterprise Boast High Insider Ownership?

Many investors like to check how much of a company is owned by insiders. A high insider ownership often makes company leadership more mindful of shareholder interests. Parkit Enterprise insiders own about CA$31m worth of shares. That equates to 10% of the company. While this is a strong but not outstanding level of insider ownership, it's enough to indicate some alignment between management and smaller shareholders.

So What Do The Parkit Enterprise Insider Transactions Indicate?

The fact that there have been no Parkit Enterprise insider transactions recently certainly doesn't bother us. On a brighter note, the transactions over the last year are encouraging. Insiders own shares in Parkit Enterprise and we see no evidence to suggest they are worried about the future. In addition to knowing about insider transactions going on, it's beneficial to identify the risks facing Parkit Enterprise.
