Report highlights 83% adoption of Citizen Development programs among top tech leaders; AI and automation seen as critical drivers for innovation.

WILMINGTON, Del., Sept. 25, 2024 /CNW/ -- Kissflow, a leading platform that empowers process owners a.k.a. citizen developers and IT developers to automate internal processes and applications, released its highly anticipated Citizen Development Trends Report 2024, offering valuable insights into how organizations are leveraging Citizen Development (CD) to accelerate digital transformation.

Kissflow Citizen Development Survey 2024 - Report Highlights

The report, based on a survey conducted with Chief Information Officers (CIOs) from enterprises with over 5,000 employees, reveals significant strides in the adoption of citizen development.

Citizen development is transforming how organizations approach digital transformation, by empowering non-IT employees to design, build, and deploy departmental applications, processes and tasks using low-code/no-code platforms. This movement allows non-IT business users — known as 'citizen developers' — to create solutions tailored to their specific needs without relying on the IT department.

Key Findings:

High Adoption and Strategic Importance: 83% of tech leaders have implemented a Citizen Development program, with 92% agreeing that it plays a vital role in achieving their digital transformation objectives. Among those surveyed, 56% have prioritized CD as a top initiative and allocated dedicated funding.
Accelerating Innovation: 62% of respondents believe that Citizen Development significantly accelerates digital transformation, by empowering employees outside of IT to build and deploy their own solutions. Operations and HR departments are cited as the leading adopters of CD.
Tangible Business Benefits: Organizations are seeing faster responses to market changes, increased innovation, and reduced IT backlogs. 76% of tech leaders expect faster response times, and 75% anticipate increased solution customization, as a direct result of embracing citizen development in their organization.
Enhanced Productivity: 58% of respondents predict that implementing Citizen Development will lead to over a 10% increase in individual productivity, by streamlining workflows and reducing inefficiencies.

While the report highlights the immense potential of Citizen Development, it also identifies key challenges.

Data security remains the top concern for 44% of CIOs, followed by the need for seamless integration with existing IT infrastructures.
Governance and the lack of training for citizen developers are also noted as significant challenges that organizations must address to unlock the full potential of CD.

A smallholder with 100 rescue animals has been ordered off her land by a council - despite the previous owner winning the right to stay.  Tracey Milton moved to the five acre plot in the Scottish Borders from her home county of Somerset around 14 months ago. She purchased the land from a previous owner who lived in a static caravan on site - and raises chickens, alpacas, geese, pigs, Shetland ponies and a parrot. The previous owner had been denied permission to live on the land in 2004 but successfully appealed and won. When purchasing the property from them Tracey came to an agreement with a neighbouring landowner to supply electricity and water. During the sale she was never informed that she may not be able to live on site near Selkirk. But after living in her own static caravan on the property for four months, Scottish Borders Council enforcement officers arrived to order Tracey to leave. Now Tracey says she will fight to remain on the land to look after her over 100 rescued animals.

Owner Sarah Woodland, 42, was gifted two mini Shetland ponies in the summer of 2022 by a friend. Poppy, 16, and Tinks, 17, stand at just 30 inches tall and love being stroked and fussed over. Vorasidenib, or Voranigo, specifically treats brain and spinal cancer, and is set to make her condition manageable.

Car smashes through front of bungalow while "parallel parking"
A car smashed straight through the front of a bungalow after the driver had a mishap while "parallel parking". CCTV shows the Jaguar I-Pace pull up, appear to start to park, before shooting forwards at speed, towards home. Locals in Holgate, York, said it was a lucky escape for the resident who was in the home at the time of the smash. The whole front wall of the property caved in, and utility providers were on site trying to make it safe for a further 12 hours, an onlooker said. Fire, ambulance and police attended the scene following the crash around 11am on Friday (20).

Ashley continued to go to the doctors and was eventually given an ultrasound which revealed she had two uteruses - which were heart-shaped - and two cervixes.

Heartbreaking floral tributes have been laid next to a home where a woman and a girl were tragically found dead. Flowers and a teddy bear were placed beside the terraced property after the bodies of a 40-year-old woman and an eight-year-old girl were discovered yesterday (Mon). Police said they had been called to the home on South Radford Street, Salford, Grtr. Manchester, shortly after 10:30am following reports of a concern for welfare.
