Kings waive summer league standout Emanuel Terry; finalize roster for regular season

The Kings had to cut one more player to finalize their roster for the start of the regular season. General manager Monte McNair made that move Friday, waiving summer league standout Emanuel Terry to pare his roster down to 17 players.

A league source told The Sacramento Bee the Kings expect Terry to join their G League affiliate in Stockton. Guards Matt Coleman, DJ Steward and Ade Murkey and forward Damien Jefferson are also expected to play for Stockton Kings coach Bobby Jackson after being waived by Sacramento earlier this week.

The Kings roster now stands at 17 players. The NBA allows each team to carry 15 players on standard contracts and two additional players on two-way contracts. The Kings are carrying forward Louis King and rookie center Neemias Queta on two-way contracts.

Sacramento’s roster now features seven guards, five forwards and five centers as the Kings prepare to play the Portland Trail Blazers in their season opener Wednesday at Moda Center. The backcourt includes De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, Davion Mitchell, Terence Davis, Jahmi’us Ramsey and Robert Woodard II. Harrison Barnes, Marvin Bagley III, Maurice Harkless and Chimezie Metu will man the forward spots. Richaun Holmes, Tristan Thompson, Alex Len and Damian Jones make up coach Luke Walton’s stable of centers.
