Kings gameday live: Barnes, Bagley, Harkless injury updates for rematch with Clippers

Rich Pedroncelli/AP

The Kings managed to earn a road win over the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this week despite the absences of Harrison Barnes, Maurice Harkless and Marvin Bagley III.

They might find themselves in a similar situation when they face the Clippers again on Saturday at Golden 1 Center, and this time they will probably have to deal with seven-time All-Star Paul George.

The Kings (9-14) will try to beat the Clippers (12-11) for the second time in 72 hours after picking up a 124-115 victory on Wednesday at Staples Center. George was held out of that game due to rest, but he returned to the lineup Friday to post 19 points, eight rebounds and nine assists in 39 minutes in a 119-115 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Barnes has missed the past four games with a sprained right foot. Harkless has missed the past three games due to left knee soreness. Bagley has missed the past two games with a non-COVID-19-related illness.

Interim Kings coach Alvin Gentry said Barnes and Bagley both practiced Friday, but Bagley was still a little “under the weather.” Gentry said all three players were considered questionable for Saturday’s game, but the official injury report told a slightly different story. Barnes was listed as doubtful. Harkless was considered questionable. Bagley was not listed, indicating he will be available against the Clippers.

The Kings will have Sunday, Monday and Tuesday off before playing host to the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. Gentry didn’t rule out of the possibility of holding Barnes and Harkless out for one more game given the opportunity for additional recovery time.
