Katie Price has said she wrote a farewell letter to cocaine after she sought help when it began "taking over" her life.

The mother-of-five had a 28-day stint at the Priory back in 2018, which she says was due to "severe trauma" as she "didn't know how to deal with everything" at the time.

"People around me were doing stories that just weren’t true, and I’m trying to get up for air and then I’m being knocked down. It does get to you in the end," Price, 42, shared in a new interview with The Times.

"And because I’ve got five kids, I thought, 'Oh my God, I can’t do this.' I didn’t know how to deal with everything. I just wanted to sleep. I wanted to shut things out.

"I went to the doctor – I don’t know how I found the strength – and said, 'I’m doing this [cocaine]. It’s taking over. I can’t cope with it.' He’s known me a long time. He looked at me as if to say, 'What?'"

Price said she then penned a letter to say goodbye to drugs, in which she insisted they would “never get the better of me again”.

Speaking on her Quest show My Crazy Life last year, Price said she had turned to cocaine and alcohol as an escape.

She explained it was down to a series of events including her mother Amy receiving a diagnosis of terminal lung condition idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, her split from third husband Kieran Hayler and one of her dogs being run over outside of her home.

"It got to the point where I literally can’t talk to anyone. My mum is terminally ill, I don’t want to stress her out. Yeah, I turned to coke and I turned to drink," she said.

She was also filmed “rapping” about the drug in a 2018 video.

Price told The Sun last month that she celebrated her first sober Christmas in 2020.
