Kanye West has officially changed his name to Ye.

Back in August, E News reported the rapper filed a request to change his name from Kanye Omari West to Ye. He first gave himself the nickname back in 2018 when he tweeted: "The being formally known as Kanye West...I am YE."

Kanye cited "personal reasons" for the change, and now, his request has been approved by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michelle Williams Court.

Speaking about what the name means to him, Kanye told Billboard: "I believe 'Ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible, it means 'you.' So, I'm you, I'm us, it's us. It went from Kanye, which means the only one, to just Ye — just being a reflection of our good, our bad, our confusion, everything."

He later released an album titled Ye before following up with Jesus Is King in 2019. More recently, Kanye released the hotly-anticipanted Donda album, hosting listening parties across the US with the support of his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian and their four kids.

Donda was initially scheduled for release on July 23, and was eventually released on August 29.
