This Kansas City area hardware store will close at the end of the year

Westlake Ace Hardware will close its Kansas City, Kansas, store at 7523 State Ave. at the end of this year.

“The closing of any store is not a decision we take lightly,” Jeremy Van Ommeren, divisional vice president for Westlake Ace Hardware, said in a press release. “However, as we continue to analyze lease agreements, profitability, community growth, and ever-changing market dynamics, we occasionally need to right-size our store count.”

The final day on State Avenue will be Dec. 28.

Liquidation sales are planned in the months ahead. Van Ommeren said employees will be offered positions at nearby Westlake Ace locations.

Westlake Ace has 30 locations in the Kansas City area. In recent years, it has opened new stores in Lee’s Summit (3511 SW Market St.), Liberty (9715 North Ash Ave.), Olathe (1185 W. Santa Fe St.) and Overland Park (6327 W. 119th St.).
