Justin Tucker, most accurate kicker in NFL history, doinks two kicks off upright in Buffalo wind

Justin Tucker will be the rare kicker to get Hall of Fame consideration. He’s that good.

But even the most accurate kicker in NFL history couldn’t master the winds in Buffalo on Saturday night.

The Buffalo Bills have a home-field advantage, and it’s not necessarily the partial crowd in the stands. Buffalo’s weather makes it rough on everyone in January. NBC showed flags at the top of the stadium flapping in the wind before Tuckers’ first field goal attempt in the first quarter. That kick took a left turn and banged off the upright, no good.

The Baltimore Ravens tried again in the second quarter. Going the other direction, Tucker’s kick hit off the right upright.

It was shocking. At 90.7%, Tucker has the best field-goal percentage in NFL history. Most of his kicks aren’t even close, they’re right down the middle. And in a divisional playoff game, Tucker missed twice in the first half. The Ravens still trailed 3-0 after Tucker’s second miss.

Tucker wasn’t alone. Buffalo kicker Tyler Bass missed a kick in the first half too.

Tucker did hit a field goal with four seconds left in the half. It was a short field goal and barely got inside the upright as it moved to the right in the wind.

The Ravens’ stud kicker is in a bit of a rare slump. He missed during last week’s wild-card game too. The last time Tucker missed three field goals over two games was Weeks 10 and 11 in 2015. Before this postseason, Tucker hit 11-of-12 field-goal attempts in the postseason in his career. He was perfect inside of 50 yards.

Baltimore usually doesn’t worry at all when Tucker goes out for a field-goal attempt, but it’s not easy to play in Buffalo this time of year.
