Jonah Hill Upgrades in New York City

BUYER: Jonah Hill
LOCATION: New York City, NY
PRICE: $9,164,250
SIZE: 3,280 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Though the deal went down on the down low quite some time ago — last October, to be exact — it’s only now been sussed out by the intrepid property gossip gal at the New York Post that in-demand Hollywood hypenate Jonah Hill has significantly ungraded his residential circumstances with the $9,164,250 purchase of a house-sized condo at The Schumacher building in New York City’s NoHo — North of Houston — neighborhood.

Digital listing details we turned up show the four bedroom and 4.5 bathroom fifth floor condo, which carries considerable monthly common charges of $4,058 not counting property taxes, spans a comfortably ample if hardly humongous 3,280-square-feet with 12-foot barrel vaulted ceilings, over-sized wood-framed windows, restored columns and beams, and cold-rolled blackened steel details. A nearly 750-square-foot combination living and dining room opens to a spacious U-shaped kitchen with center island and a long, zigzagged hallway connects the main living space to the bedroom wing at the rear of the apartment that includes three en suite guest bedrooms plus a master suite with sunny, south-facing bathroom and a generous 9’ x 9’ walk-in closet. All four of the bedrooms overlook the building’s central courtyard that was done up by esteemed avant garde landscape architect Ken Smith with vines hung like ribbons on vertical cables from a roof-mounted trellis and a bed of white Vermont marble chunks scattered around a pair of circular stainless steel pools. The freshly converted, seven-story boutique building, a red brick Queen Anne Victorian meets Romanesque Revival-style edifice that was once a printing factory according to marketing materials, offers its few and well-heeled residents — there are just 20 apartments in the building — a long list of luxurious creature comforts that include 24-hour doormen services, a private library lounge, fitness center, a pirate-themed children’s playroom, bicycle storage room, and a 17,000-square-foot roof terrace with built-in barbecue.

At right about the same time Mister Hill picked up his new digs in NoHo, he unloaded a 2,000-square-foot loft in SoHo for $3,050,000 to a couple from Dallas, Texas, and back in Los Angeles he concurrently sold a Richard Dorman-designed mid-century bungalow in a quite enclave above Laurel Canyon for $3.65 million after having purchased it just over five years earlier for $1.865 million.
