(AFP via Getty Images)England bowler Jofra Archer has been given the green light to resume training after recovering from hand surgery.
The Sussex paceman underwent an operation on March 29 to remove a fragment of glass from the middle finger on his right bowling hand after dropping a fish tank while cleaning at his home in January.
The issue did not prevent Archer from travelling on England’s subsequent tour of India, though he has also been dealing with a persistent right elbow issue that required a second injection and saw him miss two out of the four Test matches.
The 26-year-old played a full part in the T20 series against India before being ruled out of the ODIs.
After that hand surgery, the ECB said that Archer would commence a two-week period of rehabilitation before being assessed by a consultant.
He has now been given the all-clear to return to light training and is set to work closely with the England and Sussex medical teams as he bids to step up his bowling intensity next week.
It remains unclear when exactly Archer will be able to return to match action, with a further assessment of his elbow injury set to be made once he resumes bowling.
He has missed the start of the 2021 IPL, where he has an £800,000 contract to play for the Rajasthan Royals.
