Jennifer Lopez Re-Lists in Hidden Hills at Lower Price

SELLER: Jennifer Lopez
LOCATION: Hidden Hills, CA
PRICE: $14.5 million
SIZE: 17,129 square feet, 9 bedrooms, 11 full and 2 half bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Jennifer Lopez must be getting some kind of serious about selling her sprawling mansion in the guard-gated equestrian community of Hidden Hills. After first shopping the 3.13-acre estate off market and then officially putting it up for sale on the open market earlier this year with an asking price of $17 million the lucratively entrepreneurial entertainer just re-listed the property with a new and substantially lower asking price of $14.5 million.

The tireless showbiz hyphenate — some sassy critics might call the dancer, singer, actress, film and television producer, author, fashion designer, and perfume hawker an entertainment industry dilettante — and her third ex-husband, salsa king Marc Anthony, who has made plenty of his own real estate news the last year or so, purchased the property in happier marital days, in late 2010, for $8.2 million. Current listing details show the highly customized, decoratively glamified, and family-friendly complex measures in at a whopping 17,129-square-feet with a total of nine bedrooms and eleven full and two half bathrooms. The residence is really two separate structures — a main house and an equally large entertainment pavilion — connected by a breezeway that links the circular drive to a vast rear motor court between a pair of four-car garages.

In the gigantic but architecturally unassum ing main residence, ample formal living and dining rooms flank a double-height foyer and adjoining stair hall that leads to a paneled library/study hung with memorabilia from Miz Lopez’s long career. A humongous informal living space makes a long sweep along the rear of the residence and includes an expensively outfitted center island kitchen with thick slab marble counter tops, a dining space that opens to a large loggia, and a spacious family room that includes a full bar with a corkscrew staircase that winds down to a small wine cellar. There are four guest/family bedrooms on the upper floor of the main residence, each of which has an en suite bathroom and generous walk-in closet, along with a sprawling, superstar-style master suite. The huge bedroom opens to a sitting area with corner fireplace and there’s also a private balcony with sweeping view of the San Fernando Valley and San Gabriel Mountains, a glitzy bathroom larger than most bedrooms, and a 35-foot long walk-in closet that we can all be assured is carefully organized with a pricey plethora of designer duds and is probably completely catalogued by a detail oriented assistant. An extensive staff/guest wing on the main floor includes a windowless office and hall bathroom along with three bedrooms, one en suite and two that share a Jack ‘n’ Jill style bathroom.

An entertainment pavilion, which can be accessed from the main house via an enclosed bridge over the aforementioned breezeway, contains a luxuriously appointed one-bedroom and one bathroom staff suite with full kitchen; a fully paneled saloon/lounge with full bar with curtained off poker playing nook; a 20-plus seat professional-quality theater with tiered seating; a dance studio/gym with adjoining laundry; and a professional recording studio with separate sound proof booth. A commodious glamification suite on the upper level includes an entourage accommodating sitting room, a small windowless bathroom, a spacious dressing/fitting room, an adjoining hair and make up salon, and at least four walk-in closets that include a cedar lined room larger than the bedrooms of most middle-class children.

The estate’s manicured grounds include vast lawns and flowering gardens that no doubt require a prodigious amount of water to keep verdant, a children’s playground plus a couple of charming swings hung from mature shade trees, roomy terraces and loggias, an outdoor kitchen, a swimming pool and spa, and garage space for eight cars and off-street parking for at least another 20 or 30 cars.

The high-earning entertainer — despite the lackluster response of her eighth studio album “A.K.A.” and partly due to her eight-figure salary as a judge on the 14th season of “American Idol,” she reportedly hauled in around $37 million in 2014 — may or may not buy another outpost in Los Angeles once she sells her Hidden Hills homestead but our research reveals she’s far from without a place to shack up and bed down. She continues to own an approximately 8,500-square-foot mansion on 2.83 landscaped acres in the low-key but high-toned Water Mill area of the Hamptons that she scooped up in May 2013 for $9.995 million along with a quirky but über-deluxe 6,540-square-foot duplex penthouse in a boutique building near New York City’s Madison Square Park that she acquired not quite a year ago, in October 2014, for $20,161,350 million and where some of her neighbors include former first daughter Chelsea Clinton and her financier hubby Marc Mevinsky.
