Jeff Herd steps down as Royal Winnipeg Ballet executive director

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet is losing Jeff Herd, who has stepped down as its executive director.

Herd informed the RWB's board of directors that he will not be renewing his contract and is stepping down from a role he had held since 2008.

The RWB did not disclose a reason for Herd's departure.

"I have enjoyed my time here at the RWB. It is an amazing organization. I thank the staff and dancers for their wonderful work," Herd said in an RWB news release Friday afternoon.

"I am proud of what we have accomplished and wish the organization all the best."

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet said Herd has made "significant contributions to the RWB and the cultural and artistic community in Winnipeg and Canada during his tenure."

Artistic director André Lewis will assume Herd's responsibilities as the RWB starts searching for a new executive director.
