Jason Statham Lists Ben Stiller’s Old House in Hollywood Hills

SELLER: Jason Statham
LOCATION: Los Angeles, Calif.
PRICE: $8.999 million
SIZE: 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Given that beau hunky British action-flick oriented actor Jason Statham and his catwalking lady-friend Rosie Huntington-Whiteley recently shelled out almost $13 million for a family-sized house in the Flats of Beverly Hills — more on that in a minute — it’s not such a surprise to this property gossip that he’s hoisted his celeb-pedigreed bachelor pad in the celeb-saturated Outpost Estates ‘hood in the Hollywood Hills on the market with an asking price of $8.999 million.

Mister Statham purchased the 1929 Spanish casa not quite four years ago for $7.35 million from Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor, who’d had the place worked over in a fine and photogenic fashion by the deft interior design squad at Roman & Williams. Current listing details, which quite curiously make use of many of the very same images used to market the property when the Stiller-Taylors had it for sale on the open market, don’t indicate the square footage, but the L.A. County Tax Man clocks it at 5,334 square feet. Online listings do, however, show there are half a dozen bedrooms and as many bathrooms, formal living and dining rooms, a den, library, office, screening room, gym/exercise room and a vintage-inspired center island kitchen fitted and kitted with every modern convenience a hired chef might require or desire. The gated and tropically landscaped grounds span more than half an acre and include a tree-shaded motor court, a detached two-car garage with additional living quarters above, a variety of verandas, terraces, and balconies, numerous colorfully tiled fountains and at least one exuberantly tiled outdoor fireplace and, set privately below the house, a swimming pool worthy of a boutique hotel.

The Outpost Estates neighborhood, in the foothills between Hollywood and West Hollywood, has long been home to a slew of stars and other high-profile people. Past residents include Gore Vidal, Orlando Bloom and Scarlett Johansson, and current homeowners include Charlize Theron and Felicity Huffman and William H. Macy.

Mister Statham has been on a rather impressive real estate tear the last five or six years. Over the summer of 2009 he forked out $10.625 million for a beachfront contemporary in the swanky, guard-gated Colony enclave in Malibu, and in May 2011 he unloaded, at a stomach-churning $343,000 loss, a high-floor condo at the Broadway Hollywood building in the heart of Hollywood that he’d acquired in July 2007 for $1.543 million. In July of 2011 he sold a moody mid-century modern on a celeb-lined street above the Sunset Strip for $2.7 million and — interestingly enough — just last month he dropped $2.7 million for a much brighter mid-century modern that’s all but directly across the street. The month before he snagged the Sunset Strip house, as we mentioned earlier, he and Miss Huntington-Whiteley paid the full $12.995 million asking price for a particularly pulchritudinous contemporary mini-mansion on a tree-lined block in the increasingly popular Flats of Beverly Hills. That house, one a not exactly sprawling, 0.38 acre mid-block parcel, was owned by one of L.A.’s more prominent real estate agents, and according to digital marketing materials has five bedrooms and 8 bathrooms in 7,119 square feet.

The property is represented by Ben Bacal at Rodeo Realty.
