Jackie Collins’ Beverly Hills Estate Sold to Mystery Buyer (EXCLUSIVE)

The Beverly Hills mega-mansion that belonged to late, professionally prolific and sensationally saucy pulp novelist Jackie Collins is in escrow with a mysterious buyer for an unknown amount. The behemoth property was officially put up for sale amid much hullabaloo earlier this year at $30 million before the price was chopped in one fell swoop to $24.5 million.

Collins custom built the nearly 22,000-square-foot contemporary colossus in the early 1990s. Along with eight bedrooms and a staggering 15 bathrooms, the sprawling residence offers vast entertaining spaces that include a 12-seat screening room and private art gallery as well as several offices where Collins penned many of her 32 novels that, combined, have sold more than half a billion copies. The house wraps around a civic-plaza-scaled courtyard with a lake-sized swimming pool for which Collins used the iconic David Hockney painting “A Bigger Splash” as inspiration. The property is represented by Susan Smith and Brett Lawyer at Hilton & Hyland.

Since the early 1990s, Collins also owned the less grandiose estate next door that, according to the always impeccably apprized snitch Lucy Spillerguts, is leased to Al Pacino’s production company. This property gossip hears from plugged in BevHills real estate insider Harvey Wallbanger that parcel will also be sold for an as yet unknown amount to the very same mysterious buyer of Collins’ mega-manse. We shall see when the smoke clears and the transactions are recorded, but for now, it’s just some good ol’ premium-grade Platinum Triangle real estate rumor and gossip.

Collins, who died last fall at 77 after a six-year battle with breast cancer, was a bit of a real estate mogul in Los Angeles. Along with the side-by-side mansions in the flats of Beverly Hills, she also owned a 7,500-square-foot house just a few blocks away, as well as a nearly 3,800-square-foot ranch-style residence in the Stone Canyon area of Bel Air that was set out for lease last year at $18,000 per month.
