We've lost count of how many times insiders have accumulated shares in a company that goes on to improve markedly. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of examples of share prices declining precipitously after insiders have sold shares. So before you buy or sell OneSoft Solutions Inc. (CVE:OSS), you may well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling.

Do Insider Transactions Matter?

It is perfectly legal for company insiders, including board members, to buy and sell stock in a company. However, such insiders must disclose their trading activities, and not trade on inside information.

Insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing. But it is perfectly logical to keep tabs on what insiders are doing. For example, a Columbia University study found that 'insiders are more likely to engage in open market purchases of their own company’s stock when the firm is about to reveal new agreements with customers and suppliers'.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At OneSoft Solutions

The Independent Director, Ronald Odynski, made the biggest insider sale in the last 12 months. That single transaction was for CA$152k worth of shares at a price of CA$0.63 each. That means that an insider was selling shares at slightly below the current price (CA$0.68). As a general rule we consider it to be discouraging when insiders are selling below the current price, because it suggests they were happy with a lower valuation. However, while insider selling is sometimes discouraging, it's only a weak signal. We note that the biggest single sale was only 6.1% of Ronald Odynski's holding.

In the last twelve months insiders netted CA$198k for 336k shares sold. OneSoft Solutions insiders didn't buy any shares over the last year.
