New 'Indiana Jones' movie adds Phoebe Waller-Bridge, brings back the iconic John Williams

Harrison Ford's globetrotting archaeologist is coming back and he's got an Emmy-winning "Fleabag" star with him this time.

Disney announced Friday that British actress Phoebe-Waller Bridge has signed on to appear in the upcoming fifth "Indiana Jones" movie alongside Ford, who's been wearing Indy's familiar fedora since 1981's "Raiders of the Lost Ark."

The new film, directed by "Ford v Ferrari's" James Mangold and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, Simon Emanuel and original Indy director Steven Spielberg, is scheduled in theaters July 29, 2022.

In addition, 89-year-old Oscar-winning composer John Williams, whose "Raiders" theme is one of the most iconic themes in movie history, is returning to score the franchise's latest adventure.

“I'm thrilled to be starting a new adventure, collaborating with a dream team of all-time great filmmakers," Mangold said in a statement. "Steven, Harrison, Kathy, Frank, and John are all artistic heroes of mine. When you add Phoebe, a dazzling actor, brilliant creative voice and the chemistry she will undoubtedly bring to our set, I can't help but feel as lucky as Indiana Jones himself.”

Waller-Bridge won three Emmys and two Golden Globes for the British series "Fleabag," which she starred in as well as wrote and created, and she's also a credited screenwriter on the upcoming James Bond film "No Time to Die" (out Oct. 8).

There's also a "Star Wars" connection with her latest co-star: Ford captained the Millennium Falcon as the heroic rogue Han Solo in George Lucas' original trilogy, and Waller-Bridge played the spaceship's resident droid L3-37 via performance capture for the 2018 prequel "Solo: A Star Wars Story." (Waller-Bridge is also on tap to remake "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" with "Solo" partner Donald Glover.)

The still-untitled new "Indiana Jones" film was originally scheduled to release in theaters in July 2020 but in 2018, the film was delayed a year due to script issues and then was delayed again to 2022 last April. Spielberg also originally planned to direct the new movie before handing over the reins to Mangold in February 2020.
