Yahoo Finance IKEA Kitchen Cabinets Made From Recycled Materials
Scandinavian design is known for its staple hue of matte black, but IKEA is going green with its newest line of cabinets (which of course, still comes in matte black).
The Swedish retailer recently engineered kitchen cabinets that are made from reclaimed industrial wood and recycled plastic bottles. Designed by Swedish studio Form Us With Love, the cabinets are called - prepare yourself for a tongue-twister - Kungsbacka, and are the company's first kitchen cabinets to be made completely from the two materials, according to Dezeen.
But can you tell? Not at all.

It's OK to ooh and aah.
The cabinets themselves are made from reclaimed wood. Then, about 25 plastic bottles are used to coat each 40 x 80 cm unit, which is then finished in a dark matte hue meant to evoke a great-fitting black T-shirt, according to Curbed.
They'll stick around a lot longer than your favorite black T-shirt, though: Form Us With Love says the cabinets last 25 years.
"A plastic bottle is not waste, it is a resource," Jonas Pettersson, CEO of Form Us With Love, said in a statement on the company's website."And most importantly, this kitchen proves that these materials can be used for household goods in large scale production."
Last year, IKEA announced its PS 2017 line would include "no waste" products - meaning this is just one sustainable product you'll see from the company this year. Other eco-friendly offerings will include vases, chairs and other furniture and decor.
