'iCarly': What Carly, Sam and the gang have been up to, and where to watch the sequel

It's all for real: "iCarly" is back.

Nine years after she signed off, Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) is online once again, now facing new grown-up problems along with (most of) the original cast.

Once the "only web show" around, as Carly puts it, "iCarly" is now one of countless online channels. Yet the revival of the 2007-12 Nickelodeon series, at least in its first four episodes now streaming on Paramount+, falls short in offering interesting commentary on internet and influencer culture. Episode 3 addresses cancel culture, but not in a way that takes any real stance, other than highlighting the importance of saying "sorry" when you've hurt someone's feelings.

The show has another major identity crisis: It doesn't quite know if it's meant for the original fans, now in their 20s and 30s – Cosgrove is 28 – or a new generation of tween viewers. That watered-down take on cancel culture might be a helpful introduction to the topic in a kids' show, but it doesn't fit on one that also regularly talks about sex and alcohol consumption.

While certain aspects don't live up to expectations, grownup fans of the original series can still enjoy a walk down memory lane, catching up on where their favorite characters have been since the finale and experiencing the group's shenanigans once again.

Here's everything you need to know about Paramount+'s "iCarly" reboot:

Where to watch episodes of the 'iCarly' reboot online?

Both versions of "iCarly" are available to Paramount+ subscribers. (The original series can also be streamed on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and Nick.com. Reruns can still be found on Nickelodeon.)

When do new episodes of 'iCarly' come out?

The first four of 13 episodes are available now. New episodes will be released every Thursday.

What have Carly, Freddie, Sam and Spencer been up to?

Carly Shay (Cosgrove): Now 26, Carly attended college, where she tried her hand at a radio show as a theater and media studies major (although she felt like she learned more from doing "iCarly" than "any boring lecture").

Spencer Shay (Jerry Trainor): Still living in the same apartment, Spencer is now a super-rich artist – all that weird sculpture-making finally paid off!

Freddie Benson (Nathan Kress): Freddie is twice-divorced and back living with his mom again after a failed attempt at launching a startup. He also has an adopted daughter, Millicent (Jaidyn Triplett) he shares with one of his ex-wives.

Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy): Carly's firecracker best friend is noticeably absent from the new series. McCurdy has retired from acting, so the show explains her character is "off following her bliss with that biker gang."

Laci Mosley, Josie Totah, more newcomers and old faces

Harper (Mosley): Carly has a new best friend: Her roommate Harper, an aspiring stylist from a wealthy family. Carly describes Harper's dating life as a "never-ending buffet of people who want to sleep with you: Cute guys, hot girls (and) ridiculously gorgeous non-binary lawyers who get your name tattooed on their thigh."

Willow (Josie Totah): Totah, who recently appeared in "Moxie," "Big Mouth" and the "Saved by the Bell" reboot, guest stars in episode 3 as Willow, a social media influencer.

Nevel Papperman (Reed Alexander): Carly's neurotic enemy will reappear in upcoming episodes. (Alexander now works as a finance reporter for Business Insider.

Marissa Benson (Mary Scheer): With Freddie back at home, of course his mom has to return, too. She's just as overbearing as we remember.
