Hostile takeover bid for Aphria, Chenault leaves IBM, P&G boards, Amazon could help NY Yankees

Here are some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team is watching for you today.

U.S.-based Green Growth Brands is offering about $2 billion in a hostile takeover bid for cannabis producer Aphria. The offer is a roughly 45% premium on Aphria's current share price. Aphria has been battered in recent weeks after short-seller Gabriel Grego accused the company of being a "scheme to funnel money" to shareholders.

A big name is leaving the boards of IBM and Procter & Gamble. Ken Chenault is stepping down next year to focus on other projects. The former American Express CEO — recently joined the boards of Facebook and Airbnb. He's also chairman of the venture capital fund General Catalyst.

An unlikely partnership may be in the works between Amazon, Sinclair Broadcasting and the New York Yankees. The Wall Street Journal said the three are in talks to bid for the YES network. That's the regional sports network that carries Yankees games. The team already owns about 20% of YES. Disney is selling off its remaining stake in the network as part of its deal to buy most of 21st Century Fox.

Netflix is going interactive with a choose-your-own adventure episode of its popular show “Black Mirror.” The episode lets you decide how the story will play out. Viewers get yes-or-no options at certain points, and you can go back to the beginning and start over to see how the different choices affect the outcome.

Nestlé is setting its sights on a meat-free burger. The food giant is set to introduce a new "Incredible Burger" made from soy and wheat protein. The company sees sales in plant-based foods topping $1 billion in the coming years. The bulk of Nestlé's sales today come from coffee, bottled water, and other products.
