A traffic policeman patrolling the area around the junction of Kai Cheung Road and Wang Chiu Road in Kowloon Bay soon after 11pm on Sunday had spotted the male driver of a Toyota car speaking on the phone while behind the wheel. No passenger was in the car at the time.

A 63-second viral video showed the officer on his bike and flanking the moving car outside the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police headquarters in Kai Cheung Road before he sounded his siren and overtook the vehicle to stop it.

The footage showed the car switching lanes and speeding off for a short distance before it was blocked by other vehicles stopped at a red light at the junction of Kai Cheung Road and Wang Kwong Road.

The officer then left his motorcycle behind the car and approached the vehicle. At this juncture, the car reversed into the motorcycle and sped off, with the officer giving chase.
