Hollyoaks star Gregory Finnegan discusses future for James and Ste

There has been some trouble lately on Hollyoaks for James and Ste.

This week he helped the McQueens try and prove John Paul's innocence in the case of the murder of PC George Kiss.

But that didn't leave Ste too happy: he feared that James' feelings for their shared ex John Paul could resurface and put their own relationship in jeopardy.

James then also kept lying about what Leah overheard when Ste confronts him, causing a difficult situation where Leah was furious that her dad takes James' side over hers.

This left Ste questioning whether his relationship with James is even worth fighting for any more and disrespecting Leah for it.

However, James saw he was making a mistake with the way he treated Ste and needed to apologise to save his relationship.

But will their relationship last or is this falling out foreshadowing further issues down the line?

According to actor Gregory Finnegan, who plays James on the show, the two will be together for quite a long time.

Asked in an interview with Inside Soap whether he was surprised by his character's pairing with Kieron Richardson's Ste he said: "In some ways yes, but it almost felt inevitable that their paths would cross eventually, and they seem to be having fun.

"There's a mutual respect, and I think there will be a future in it for them…"

Speaking of his rapport with his co-star, the actor continued: "Kieron and I have worked together for many years now, and have a lot of laughs together.

"I remember the first thing Kieron said to me when I arrived at Hollyoaks was 'You're going to steal my Harry'

"I didn’t have a clue what he was talking about!"

Kieron's prophecy came true though as James went on start a relationship with Ste's ex-husband Harry Thompson (Parry Glasspool).

Hollyoaks currently airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
