Here's Everything We Know About Cody And Aaron's 'Bachelorette' Beef So Far

Here's Everything We Know About Cody And Aaron's 'Bachelorette' Beef So Far

A season of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette without drama is like Champagne without bubbles: not worth it. Thanks to ABC producers and competitive contestants, there is always plenty of drama. Katie Thurston's Bachelorette journey drama kicked off on night one, seemingly out of nowhere.

After 30 introductions, the conversations were rolling right along and the box man remained a mystery. Everyone was a little nervous, but Katie and the guys handled the awkwardness like champs. Then, a fight broke out.

In what Twitter is calling "the most random fight in Bachelor franchise history," the episode cut to a short standoff between 27-year-old Cody Menks the zipper salesman (you know, blow-up doll guy?) and 26-year-old Aaron Clancy the insurance agent.

ICYMI, here's what went down between Aaron and Cody night one.

"I don’t like you bro. Like, I’ve never liked you," Aaron told Cody. "And that’s fine. We don’t have to talk at all. And it’s not my fault I don’t like you." (Which already makes me suspicious.)

A confused Cody shot back, "Well, you don’t like me, so that is your fault." Then, in a confessional shot, Cody said "I’m like, 'What are you talking about dude?'"

Cut back to the fight. "I'm literally just telling you exactly what's up," Aaron said as he walked away. "All right, I don’t agree with anything you said. I don’t think there was a need for that at all," Cody yelled after him.

If that exchange left you perplexed, you're definitely not alone. The full explanation for Cody and Aaron's beef may not come until later in the season, but there are plenty of clues and spoilers RN. Here's everything to know about the first feud on Katie's Bachelorette season:

Aaron and Cody weren't strangers before The Bachelorette.

These two go way back... to the Cali coast. Reality Steve confirmed that Cody and Aaron both live in San Diego and could have run into each other: "I don't know if they knew each other per se, but, they definitely at least knew of each other and ran in the same friend circle," he wrote on his website.

Still, just living in the same city isn't really enough of a reason to resort to name-calling. Reality Steve thinks it's bigger than that. His best guess? "Aaron went to Katie and told her Cody was a party guy, not really there for her, Cody found out about this and confronted Aaron," he wrote. Ooooh.

"I don't think it got physical, but, Cody ended up either getting eliminated in that moment or at the next rose ceremony. Aaron went home a couple one or two episodes later," he continued. Hmmm, a likely story. Not really juicy enough for me, though. Next!

They may or may not have been fighting over the same lady.

This is all before Katie, btw. Okay, stick with me here. Not only do Aaron and Cody both live in San Diego, but they're also both members of the workout world. So already, maybe they know each other more than Reality Steve thought.

Looking at their Instagrams, neither guy follows the other (no surprise there), but they do have a few mutual friends. Scrolling back in their feeds, there are some veeeery interesting coincidences.

For example, there's a now-deleted Instagram post in which Cody and a woman were getting cozy. The caption read "When you know you know 💛," per Refinery29. These two don't follow each other anymore, so it's safe to say they're no longer an item. But this lady does follow Aaron (gasp!).

So maybe when Aaron said "it's not my fault I don't like you," he was talking about a love triangle gone wrong before The Bachelorette even started filming. Spicy!

It looks like they wrestle it out on a date.

The fight night date came early for Katie's men. Based on teasers, Cody and Aaron go head-to-head in a pit of mud in "Katie's Big Buckle Brawl."

Both Cody and Aaron are definitely on the date and got down and dirty, like the promo says.

What does Katie think about the men fighting?

She is cool as a cucumber when it comes to dealing with drama. "You have to take everything case by case," she told Women's Health. "For me, I really had to follow my intuition on how to handle [the drama between the guys]. And if there was somebody who I felt like needed to go home, I made sure to make that happen as soon as I could."

The Bachelor franchise loves hometown drama.

It's no surprise that The Bachelorette is already teasing a fight between two dudes from the same hometown. The franchise does this all. The. Time.

Recently, there was the Chicago gal showdown during Matt James' season. It all revolved around Brittany Galvin's profession and a bunch of nasty rumors. "Being from Chicago where she is, I heard rumors, and people have gone out of their way to tell me, Ohmigod, watch out for this girl..." Anna Redman told other contestants. "that she is entertaining men for money." It didn't go well for Anna or Brittany.

And on Colton's season before that, Hannah Brown and Caelynn Miller-Keys got into a pageant queen catfight. It brought out the beast in Hannah, but both women continued wooing Colton for weeks.

So, yeah, Aaron and Cody probably aren't fighting over Katie (well, over just Katie).
