Helen Hunt Mistaken for Jodie Foster by Starbucks Barista

Helen Hunt Mistaken for Jodie Foster by Starbucks Barista

Baristas misspell names a latte, but this instance is also an example of mistaken identity.

Helen Hunt shared a funny anecdote on Monday to tell her 250,000 social media followers what happened when she visited her local Starbucks .

"Ordered my drink @Starbucks Asked the barista if she wanted my name. She winked and said. 'We gotcha' #JodieFoster," Hunt posted on Twitter and Instagram with a photo of her cup that read "Jody," the misspelled name of her supposed doppelganger: Jodie Foster.

This is not the first time these women in film have been misidentified for each other. Though both Hunt, 52, and Foster, 53, are Oscar-winning actresses and have been in the industry for well over 40 years, the pair want to make it crystal clear they are two different people.

In a 1994 appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman, Hunt explained there were many times when she was mistaken for being Foster.

"My life has changed a little bit," Hunt said. "I'm recognized now for being who I am, rather than: 'I went to college with you' or 'Did you used to date my cousin?' or 'Are you Jodie Foster?' – which I got for a long time."

Hunt even recalled a time she almost got free groceries at the supermarket because a Jodie Foster fan had rung her up. "The guy is checking me out, and says, 'You're Jodie Foster.' And I said, 'I'm actually not, thank you.' 'No you are, I know you're Jodie Foster.' 'I'm begging you, I'm not, I'm really not,'" she told Letterman.
