Health unit issues beach closure and swimming warnings

Swimmers can scratch Colchester Beach off their list of places to stay cool this weekend.

The swimming hole was closed this week because of high bacteria levels, according to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit.

Water testing has also led to warnings at three other beaches because of elevated levels of E. coli: Mettawas Beach in Kingsville, West Belle River Beach and Holiday Beach.

The other six beaches have levels below the provincial standard.
