OWN’s ‘David Makes Man’ Returns For Season 2 In June (TV News Roundup)

OWN announced that “David Makes Man” is returning for Season 2 on June 22.

The new 10-episode season finds David, played by Kwame Patterson, faced with a decision that will change him and his community forever. The series began filming again in October 2020 in Orlando, Fla.

This announcement comes with a slew of new recurring cast members, including Tony Plana, Brittany S. Hall, Erica Lutrell, Zsané Jhé, Bobbi Baker, Patrice Arenas, Trinity Cidel, Brandi Huzzie, Rodney Gardiner and Janmarco Santiago. Arlen Escarpeta, Akili McDowell, Alana Arenas, Travis Coles and Cayden K. Williams also return for Season 2.

Kiel Adrian Scott and Erica Watson will each direct half the season.

HBO Max announced that “The Big Shot With Bethenny,” a new original series hosted by business tycoon and Skinnygirl founder Bethenny Frankel, will premiere on April 29. The seven-episode series will feature the next generation of business moguls competing for a position on Frankel’s executive team. Each contestant will participate in a variety of real-life tasks and challenges that will test their creativity and determination to rise to the top. The first two episodes of “The Big Shot With Bethenny” will be available to stream on April 29, with two launching May 6 and two on May 13. The finale will come out May 20. In the trailer, Frankel says she needs a vice president of operations as contestants’ knowledge of e-commerce, licensing and social media are put to the test. “The Big Shot With Bethenny” is produced by Evolution Media, B Real Productions and MGM Telvision with Frankel, Mark Burnett, Alex Baskin, Douglas Ross, Barry Poznick, Jaimie Glasson and Brian McCarthy serving as executive producers.

CNN International announced that “One World with Zain Asher” will premiere on April 26. The new global news program will air live from New York weekdays at 9 a.m. PT. “One World” will showcase stories from across the US, Asia, Europe and Africa and will feature a roster of regular contributors and analysts with expertise across global affairs. In addition to “One World,” Asher will continue to host CNN’s weekly business program “Marketplace Africa,” which delves into the continent’s key industries and corporations.

Hulu released a trailer for the new animated series “Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.,” out May 21. Voiced by Patton Oswalt, “M.O.D.O.K.” is a megalomaniacal supervillain who dreams of conquering the world while balancing his crumbling marriage and family life. Melissa Fumero, Aimee Garcia, Ben Schwartz, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Beck Bennett, Jon Daly and Sam Richardson star alongside Oswalt. The trailer shows M.O.D.O.K., which stands for Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing, battling Iron Man and begging his kids to convince his wife out of a divorce. “M.O.D.O.K.” is created and written by Oswalt and Jordan Blum, who also serve as executive producers alongside Brett Crawley, Robert Maitia, Grant Gish, Joe Quesada, Karim Zreik and Jeph Loeb.

Cumulus Media announced that they will rebrand the Westwood One Podcast Network to the Cumulus Podcast Network, effective May 6. The move will consolidate the company’s national and local podcasts into one entity and provide advertisers with a comprehensive offering of podcasts. Suzanne Grimes, executive vice president or corporate marketing and president of Westwood One, will continue running the company’s podcast sales network.

LATE NIGHT

Elisabeth Moss, James Cameron, Carlos Vives and Ricky Martin will appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” while George W. Bush and Maroon 5 will be on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Ed Helms and Susan Page will appear on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” and Christine Baranski, Melissa Villaseñor and Emmanuelle Caplette will be on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” “The Late Late Show With James Corden” will feature Cher and Jackson Wang, and Teddy Swims will be on “A Little Late With Lilly Singh.”
