A gym with unique workout classes is headed to this south Arlington spot

A fitness center franchise known for its innovative group classes is headed to an old Stein Mart location in South Arlington.

Ron Pepe with SONO Capital Partners said in a phone interview Crunch Fitness will open in mid-December at 5906 S. Cooper Street, near Sublett Road.

The fitness center will open in the shopping center Sublett Corners, which includes a Dollar Tree, Albertsons and SuperCuts — services Pepe described as “daily needs.”

“Our location really seems to be very advantageous for Arlington residents. We’ve been hearing it a lot that they like the fact that we’re on a main artery,” Pepe said.

The fitness brand, headquartered out of New York, brands itself as a diverse, judgment free gym. Crunch offers a mix of weekly group classes, including yoga, Zumba and unique high-intensity interval training regimen. The gym has around 1.8 million members and 400 locations worldwide, according to the business’s website.

Crunch has several locations across the state, including an open gym in Addison and plans for a Frisco location. Pepe said Crunch plans to open 15 locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The gym offers tiered memberships for under $25. Monthly subscription plans range from $10 for single-gym access to $23 to bring guests and access expanded services including babysitting, tanning and water massages.

Crunch Fitness is also offering members who sign up before opening a joining rate of $1.
