Yahoo Finance George Wallace, Jackée Harry Join Freeform Comedy Pilot ‘Everything’s Trash’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Jackée Harry and George Wallace have joined the cast of the Freeform comedy pilot “Everything’s Trash” in recurring roles, Variety has learned exclusively.
The iconic pair join previously announced series star Phoebe Robinson in the half-hour pilot. It follows Phoebe, a 30-something podcast star navigating her messy life. When her younger brother Jayden emerges as a leading politician, she’s forced to grow up, so she relies on her friends and close-knit family to help her figure out adulthood, since she doesn’t seem to have a clue. The series is inspired by Robinson’s book, “Everything’s Trash But It’s Okay.”

Harry will star as Zora, Phoebe and Jayden’s mother. She and her husband are mid-Western transplants, but they have made a home in NY. They love and support their children equally, but truth be known, Zora acts (and dresses) younger than she is and straddles the line between “I’m my daughter’s mother” and “I’m my daughter’s best friend.”
Wallace will star as Abraham, Phoebe and Jayden’s father and husband to Zora. He and his wife have been together since middle school and like Zora, he has treated Phoebe more like a friend than a daughter, which was fine before because she always brought laughter and joy to the family. However, now that Jayden is an elected official, Frederick worries that his daughter’s ne’er do well ways is not a great look for the family.
Harry won an Emmy Award for her role in the classic sitcom “227,” with the show also earning her a Golden Globe nomination. She is also known for starring in the comedy series “Sister, Sister” and appearing in shows like “The Paynes,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” and “The First Family.”
She is repped by Bob McGowan and Metropolitan Talent Agency.
In addition to acting, Wallace is a celebrated stand up comedian who has been a top talent in the industry for decades. His onscreen roles include multiple collaborations with Adam Sandler, including the films “Hubie Halloween,” “Funny People,” and “Little Nicky.” His other feature credits include “The Ladykillers,” “Batman Forever,” and “The Wash.”
Wallace is repped by Christopher Pratt.
Robinson serves as writer and executive producer on “Everything’s Trash” with Jonathan Groff also executive producing. Chioke Nassor will direct and co-executive produce the pilot. ABC Signature is the studio.
