Gas prices fall in Canadian cities; expert says summer peak has been hit
Gas prices fell an average of two cents per litre for regular fuel in cities across Canada this week. One oil analyst says the summer peak is in the rearview mirror.
The average price dipped from $1.683 to $1.663 between August 1 and August 8, according to data from Kalibrate. Sudbury, Ont. led the declines, with prices falling 16 cents per litre. The biggest gain was in Kelowna, B.C., at 5.3 cents per litre.
Andy Lipow of Lipow Oil Associates says gasoline prices are likely to head lower into the fall, citing adequate inventories to meet demand through Labour Day. He adds one caveat: An oil supply disruption due to conflicts in the Middle East.
"Unless that happens, gasoline prices have seen their summer peak," Lipow told Yahoo Finance this week.
