Filming on Gangs of London season 2 has been "temporarily" halted.

A spokesperson for Sky confirmed to the Radio Times on Friday (July 23) that work on the Sky Atlantic and AMC drama series has paused for 10 days because a crew member tested positive for COVID-19.

"Throughout this time, the safety of our colleagues and customers remains our number one priority," a representative has said.

"Gangs of London season two production has temporarily been suspended with cast and crew now self-isolating. We will return to production as soon as it is safe to do so."

The news comes after AMC in the US joined with Sky in the UK to officially produce a second season of Gangs of London back in March.

The Nun's Corin Hardy, Marcela Said of Lupin and Project X's Nima Nourizadeh all came on board as directors for the second season the following month.

"Helping Gareth [Evans, creator] and the team bring the first series of Gangs of London kicking, screaming and exploding to life was an invigorating high-dive into the world of cinematic television," Hardy said at the time.

"I am beyond proud of the BAFTA nominations the show has received, it is a real tribute to the incredible cast and crew and all round team effort.

"The audience response to Gangs of London was phenomenal and so it's an honour to be handed the reigns for series two to continue building our (under)world and get to tell the next chapter of this action-packed and emotional crime saga, which, if you've been watching so far, you'll know, is about to kick off for real."

Other newcomers for Gangs of London season two include Baghdad Central's Waleed Zuaiter, Salem Kali (Dealer), French rapper Jasmine Armando, Fady El-Sayed (A Private War) and Aymen Hamdouchi (SAS: Red Notice) as new characters.

Gangs of London airs on Sky Atlantic. All nine episodes in season one are available to stream on NOW.
