Ford tuner Mountune may offer factory-backed Focus RS mods

British tuner Mountune is an expert at extracting more performance from Ford Motor Company [NYSE:F] products.

And in recent years we’ve seen the company come out with upgrades backed by the factory, including here in the United States where it has a local arm.

This week Mountune announced it was preparing some upgrades for the new Focus RS, which has just gone on sale, and with any luck there will be some factory-backed items on offer for the hardcore hot hatch.

Development, which includes Nürburgring testing, is ongoing so no numbers have been confirmed just yet but Mountune says it will be able to offer upgrades with “very noticeable” improvements to power and torque, which in turn will lead to improved 0-60 mph times and other performance attributes.

The new Focus RS from the factory comes with 350 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, which Ford says will see the car hit 62 mph in 4.7 seconds and top out at 165 mph.

Mountune is already selling some mild upgrades for the Focus RS. These are part of its Phase One package and include items for the intake as well as to provide shorter gear-shifts and inhibit excessive engine movement.
