The Flash season 6: Production halts after crew member tests positive for Covid-19

The Flash has been forced to pause production following a positive coronavirus test on set.

One member of the show’s production crew has tested positive for the virus. According to Deadline, it was an asymptomatic case of coronavirus that was detected amid the cast and crew shooting in Vancouver, Canada.

The diagnosis was confirmed through the testing protocols put in place by Warner Bros for all of its employees.

In light of the news, production has been suspended until further notice with contact tracing reportedly being initiated.

Exactly when The Flash will resume shooting is up in the air, but there are hopes that it could be sooner than anticipated if showrunners are able to work around the affected staff member.

Among the tweets were: ‘Outside of the 7-11 where I assaulted my girlfriend lol’

Deadline reports that the show is currently considering “adjustments to the production schedule in order to resume filming without the affected employee and potential close contacts, who are self-isolating”.

It has not yet been determined whether the delay will have an effect on the release of the show’s seventh season, which is currently scheduled to premiere on 23 February 2021.

Earlier this year, actor Hartley Sawyer was fired from the show after a number of his racist and sexist tweets had resurfaced.

Sawyer, who had played superhero Elongated Man on The Flash since 2017, was widely condemned after a number of screenshots of since-deleted tweets including jokes about rape, sexual harassment and racism emerged on social media.

The Flash is a superhero series based on the titular DC Comics character. Since it began in 2014, the show has spanned six seasons and built a large fanbase.

The series, starring Grant Gustin, has an impressive 88 per cent rating on reviews aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
