Yahoo Finance First Dates Hotel’s Julie leaves viewers in tears as she reveals she witnessed husband’s murder
A singleton looking for love on the new series of First Dates left viewers in tears as she revealed that she’d witnessed her first husband’s murder.
Julie, 58, opened up about the harrowing experience as she dined with father-of-two Dave on Monday night’s episode of the Channel 4 show.
The mother-of-three told her date that she had been married to her husband for ‘three or four years’ when a backpacking trip ended in tragedy.
“We were backpacking in the Philippines and we got accosted and he got shot,” she told him.

"I loved him, he loved me. It was lovely but it was very tragic and then I wasn’t in a very good frame of mind when I met my second husband.”
Speaking to the camera, Julie said: “We were in quite an isolated place and unfortunately we were held up at gunpoint and for whatever reason, I don’t know why, they decided to shoot him.
“I know I witnessed everything, obviously, but it’s not a memory. It’s just a black space. So, the next thing I know is just somebody helping me and he’s gone.”

Talking about moving on and marrying her second husband, she said: “I pushed myself and told myself that I had to be happy because I knew that’s what he’s want for me, my first husband.
“But it was wrong, I couldn’t go on in that marriage. So I got divorced and just concentrated on bringing up my children then.”
Speaking to Dave, she said: “I’m very privileged and happy to have my three children as I’m sure how you feel about your children.
“As much as I loved my first husband, I don’t think that’s it, I’ll never have that again. I do hope I get that again. I would like to meet somebody.”
