Fantasy basketball waiver wire: Pickups to make ahead of Week 6

Alec Burks, New York Knicks (55% rostered)

Burks returned to action Thursday after missing nearly a month with an ankle injury, and he’s quietly been a top-45 fantasy player over his first four games with the Knicks. It’s obviously a small sample, and he won’t continue to be that valuable, but Burks is seeing big minutes and usage off the bench and is a must-add in fantasy formats. A nice contributor in threes and points, Burks is still out there in slightly over half of Yahoo leagues, so check and see if he’s still available because his rostered percentage won’t be this low for long.

Isaiah Roby, Oklahoma City Thunder (10% rostered)

Roby has been starting while Al Horford has been out for personal reasons, and there’s no timetable for his return. Horford is a trade candidate as well, so Roby is on the radar both in the short term and possibly as a long-term flier. A second-rounder in the 2019 draft, Roby has impressed playing for a thin Thunder team, putting him top-100 fantasy numbers as a starter. He’s available in 90% of Yahoo leagues.

Naz Reid, Minnesota Timberwolves (14% rostered)

Reid has moved back into the starting lineup with Karl-Anthony Towns sidelined (get well soon KAT), while Juancho Hernangomez is out too, making Minnesota’s frontcourt extremely thin right now. Reid has averaged 1.1 steals, 1.1 blocks and 1.0 threes when starting during his career, and he’s available to pick up in more than 85% of Yahoo leagues.

Jeff Green, Brooklyn Nets (18% rostered)

Green is seeing good minutes with the new-look Nets and has scored in double-digits in four straight games. Brooklyn is set to be in a bunch of high-scoring matchups, and while Green is obviously way behind the Big Three, the Nets aren’t deep now, and Green should continue to see nice run moving forward. He’s eligible at three positions (SF, PF, and C) and rostered in over 80% of Yahoo leagues.

Jeremy Lamb, Indiana Pacers (27% rostered)

Lamb made his season debut Wednesday and should quickly become a big part of Indiana’s rotation after the team traded away Victor Oladipo and with Myles Turner, Caris LeVert and T.J. Warren all sidelined. Lamb was the #90 fantasy player in 9-cat leagues last year during his first season with Indiana and remains widely available in Yahoo leagues.

Kendrick Nunn, Miami Heat (27% rostered)

Realize Nunn’s playing time could suddenly collapse once the Heat get fully healthy, but right now the team is without Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Avery Bradley — and Nunn is playing great. He’s averaged 23.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 3.0 threes over the last two games, averaging 34.5 minutes while greatly helping DFS players. Nunn is well worth using in all fantasy formats until Miami returns to full strength, and he’s available in more than 75% of Yahoo leagues.
