Fake Tesla ad nails the promise of Elon Musk's electric cars
Talk to an owner or fan of the Tesla automobile brand and you'll soon realize that you're talking to someone who believes they're pioneering the future. And they might be right.
If they are right, then their futuristic call to arms may best be represented by a new concept commercial for the Tesla Model S that profiles the car as the last hope of humanity in a dystopian wasteland of gas-guzzling automobiles.

Directed by the Venice, California-based team of twins called the Freise Brothers, the commercial, entitled "Tesla 'Not A Dream,'" includes gas trucks floating powerlessly into the sky as oil rigs smoke in the distance. Then a couple of could-be extras from Mad Max show up, one carrying gas cans, which he soon abandons as he notices hope on the horizon: the Tesla!
The entire one and a half minute commercial is narrated by an actor voicing an adaptation of the words of the car brand's namesake, inventor Nikola Tesla.
"We shot with my friend and brother's wife in the middle of nowhere, aka 50 miles north of Twentynine Palms, California," co-director Adam Freise told Mashable. "My brother and I then created all the visual effects ourselves. After that, we worked with two more friends to do the music and Nikola Tesla narration."

"What is most wonderful of all, [man] is capable of increasing or diminishing his velocity of movement by the mysterious power he possesses by appropriating more or less energy from other substance, and turning it into motive energy," reads the text from Tesla's original article, published by Century magazine back in 1900.
Although not a direct transcript of Tesla's words, the narration nevertheless embodies the spirit of the innovator's thoughts.
"This video was produced by a fan, not Tesla," a Tesla spokesperson told Mashable. "We have had dozens of talented customers and Tesla fans produce similar content in the past."
There aren't many things founder Elon Musk needs help with in the realm of the Tesla, but if we were to give him one piece of advice, it would be to immediately get these guys to do the next Tesla commercial.
Reminiscent of Apple's famous "1984" Mac commercial, this is the kind of inspirational spot that could lead to a lot more Tesla sales.
