The ES Shopping Shortlist: What to shop, know and see in March

 (Koibird)
(Koibird)

Welcome to the ES Shopping Shortlist, the monthly round-up where you’ll find all of the best things to shop and see right now.

Life is returning to a semblance of normality – hurrah! But before we head straight to a park bench for a coffee next week, there’s newness that you need to know about before you run back into the arms of your social life.

From a chance to meet Charlotte Tilbury herself (virtually, of course), to just a handful of the brands doing wonderful things for International Women’s Day, this is a whole load of shopping goodness you’re not going to want to miss.

Get a glow-up with Charlotte Tilbury

Not content enough with having revolutionised the industry with her game-changing products, beauty doyenne Charlotte Tilbury has turned her hand to hosting, as she prepares to present a free virtual masterclass on March 9 with her nieces – and brand ambassadors – Sofia and Bella Tilbury. During the call, Tilbury herself will be spilling all of the tea about how to get her signature glow, her doe-like eyes and her plump pout, as well as exclusively unveiling the brand’s latest product (spoiler: it’s a radiance-boosting goody!) One lucky person on the call will also be chosen to meet Charlotte herself one-to-one once the event is over. Tickets are free, but limited, so run - don’t walk!

Art for a brighter tomorrow

Three years ago, cult French brand Sézane launched its charity programme DEMAIN, which donates 100 per cent of the proceeds from its collections to French charities improving access to “education, culture, and equal opportunities for children all around the world” (charities have previously included La Voix de l’Enfant, Sport dans la Ville, and Pencils of Promise). In celebration of now having raised more than four million euros, the brand has launched an online ‘Solidarity Gallery’ as part of the DEMAIN initiative in an attempt to continue raising money, where you can browse and buy beautiful art knowing that 100 per cent of proceeds go to charity. From Instagram favourite Fee Greening to Hotel Magique, this is art that does good, and looks good too.

Who run the world?

Another year, another International Women’s Day. While all 365 days of the year should be celebrations of women and the myriad ways in which we are wonderful, there’s no escaping the brands that are using this one designated day (March 8) to do good. Mango has teamed up with cult Mexican artist Ana Leovy to craft a collection of two t-shirts and a tote bag where 100 per cent of proceeds going to the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, which promotes gender equality projects in southern India. Missoma and hush have both teamed up with The Prince’s Trust’s Women Supporting Women campaign.

It’s not just fashion that’s paving the way. Interflora is launching a rose bouquet called the Equal Power Flower, where only one is red in a bunch of twenty to represent the abysmal statistic that only one in 20 of the CEOs heading up companies in the FTSE 100 are women.

I can’t believe it’s not leather!

Not only is green the colour of the season, but it’s also the colour of sustainability and nobody knows their way around the eco-sphere more than Allbirds. Indeed, the purveyor of sustainable shoes has taken one step further and debuted the world’s first 100 per cent natural plant-based leather alternative, which it’s aptly naming Plant Leather. The brand’s newly-developed material has a 40 per cent lower carbon impact rate than animal leather and requires 17 times less carbon than synthetic leather made from plastic. As if these eco-credentials weren’t enough, Plant Leather is also fully biodegradable, made from vegetable oil and other conscious materials, and will be used in the brand’s upcoming launch (you’ll want to set your alarms for this one).
