Yahoo Finance England Women to play first competitive game at Wembley Stadium since reopening
England Women will play their first competitive match at the new Wembley when they host Northern Ireland in a Women’s World Cup qualifier in October.
The Lionesses have played two friendlies at Wembley since it reopened in 2007 - against Germany in 2014 and 2019 - but they have not played a competitive game there.
That will change on October 23, however, when England Women host Northern Ireland as they bid to qualify for the Women’s World Cup in 2023.
Baroness Sue Campbell, The FA’s director of women’s football, said: “Having the chance for our England team to play again at Wembley in a competitive fixture is so important.
“We want Wembley to feel like home for our England team and we want the players to be able to thrive when they run out to play.”
Tickets will go on sale exclusively to the England Supporters Travel Club and My England Football members from midday on July 30, before general sale begins from midday on August 5.
