Emile Hirsch Buys Tiny House in Laurel Canyon (EXCLUSIVE)

BUYER: Emile Hirsch
LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA
PRICE: $725,000
SIZE: 704 square feet, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Though the buyer’s identity is shielded behind an otherwise inscrutable and whimsically named limited liability company, near omniscient real estate yenta Yolanda Yakketyyak swears on her cherry red late-model Caddy the new owner of a tiny and totally nondescript house high in the mountains above Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles that sold for $725,000 — a fair bit above its $699,000 asking price — is “Milk” and “Into the Wild” star Emile Hirsch. Listing details show the apartment-proportioned 1950’s abode, just about hidden behind a secured gate and high wooden fence at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac that’s only accessible by a frustratingly Byzantine route and that few Angelenos even know is there, measures in at a downright itty-bitty 704-square-feet with two bedrooms and one bathroom.

A brick-paved courtyard leads to the front door that opens unceremoniously directly into the long and slender living room that, like most of the pint-sized house, has oak hardwood floors. The compact kitchen, partially open to the living room over a two-stool snack bar, has ceramic tile counter tops, rental grade appliances, and a wee dining area wedged in to a generously windowed corner that overlooks the front courtyard and, less than ideally, the gated carport. Not surprisingly, both bedrooms are on the puny side and the bathroom, according to listing details, was recently renovated with white ceramic tile floor, pedestal sink and claw-footed combination tub/shower. In addition to the entry courtyard there’s another dining and lounging terrace outside the kitchen and behind the carport that is paved with Italian stone tiles and includes a wee and charming koi pond set into an ivy draped stone retaining wall.

As far as this property gossip knows, this is the first home purchased by the 30-something-year-old actor who has a handful of films in various stages of production including the upcoming drama “The Swimmer” and the soon to be released comedy “The Runaround” with J.K. Simmons and “Westworld” star Shannon Woodward.
