EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ:SATS) insiders' US$507k purchase saw a boost of US$6.1k after market cap rose US$225m

Last week, EchoStar Corporation (NASDAQ:SATS) insiders, who had purchased shares in the previous 12 months were rewarded handsomely. The shares increased by 12% last week, resulting in a US$225m increase in the company's market worth. Put another way, the original US$507k acquisition is now worth US$514k.

Although we don't think shareholders should simply follow insider transactions, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether.

The Last 12 Months Of Insider Transactions At EchoStar

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Director R. Dodge for US$495k worth of shares, at about US$24.17 per share. That implies that an insider found the current price of US$24.52 per share to be enticing. That means they have been optimistic about the company in the past, though they may have changed their mind. We do always like to see insider buying, but it is worth noting if those purchases were made at well below today's share price, as the discount to value may have narrowed with the rising price. In this case we're pleased to report that the insider purchases were made at close to current prices.
