Duran Duran have been confirmed as the latest headliners of next summer’s BST Hyde Park.

The new wave icons were set to appear at the 2020 edition of the event, but were forced to put their plans on hold as the pandemic tore through festival season.

They will top the bill on Sunday July 11 next year, with support coming from Nile Rodgers and Chic, as well as Grace Jones. More acts will be announced soon.

The BST slot is set to be Duran Duran’s first London show in six years, and will be their only gig in the capital throughout 2021.

Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon said: “After the year that everyone's been through, we're aiming to make next summer into the kind of party we all deserve.”

The performance will come after two headline shows by Pearl Jam, who will be supported by Pixies and Idles on July 9 and 10 respectively.

BST Hyde Park is gearing up to be one of London’s most prominent post-pandemic festivals. Organisers are yet to announce whether the event will be subject to any limited capacities, social distancing, or other Covid-secure measures.
