Denmark 1-2 Belgium LIVE! Euros result, highlights, latest news and reaction after De Bruyne masterclass
Belgium are through to the last-16 of Euro 2020 after beating Denmark in a thrilling game in Copenhagen this evening.
Tributes were paid to Christian Eriksen, with the game halted for a minutes’ applause, as the Danish midfielder continues his recovery from the cardiac arrest he suffered on the pitch during last weekend’s defeat to Finland.
Denmark were head and shoulders above their more esteemed opponents during a first-half in which they took the lead after less than two minutes through Yussuf Poulsen’s strike.
However, the introduction of the fit-again Kevin De Bruyne at half-time turned the game on its head as the Manchester City star set up Thorgan Hazard for the equaliser and then fired home left-footed for the winner.
The result leaves Belgium top of Group B and sure of their place in the knockout stage, but all three of Denmark, Finland and Russia go into the final round of fixtures with their hopes of finishing second still alive.
