Dangerous driver on the run after escaping from the dock at Wood Green crown court as he was sent to prison

Police are hunting a man who smashed his way out of a crown court dock after being told he would be jailed for dangerous driving.

Nathan Oloyowang, 22, clambered out of the dock at Wood Green crown court, broke a perspex screen, and ran for the exit after being sentenced to 10 months in prison.

A member of the court’s security team suffered a hand injury during the escape, which happened on June 4.

Today, Scotland Yard appealed for help catching Oloyowang after he remained at large for more than two weeks.

“At around 3:30pm, after hearing that he was to be jailed for ten months, he climbed out of the dock, breaking a Perspex screen and ran from the court building”, the Met said this morning.

“A member of security staff sustained slight injuries to his hand during the incident. “Oloyowang lives in the NW3 area of Camden.

“He is described as black, 6ft 1in tall, with a heavy build and short dark hair. He was clean shaven when he was last seen.

“The public should not approach Oloyowang if they see him. Instead, they should call 999 immediately.”

He was convicted of dangerously driving a grey VW Passat through Euston in March 2019.

Oloyowang’s trial concluded in late-March, and he was due to be sentenced by Miss Recorder Jennifer Newcomb on June 4 when he escaped from the court seven dock.

The Met is asking anyone with information to call 101 or tweet @MetCC, providing the reference 5033/04JUN, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
