Daily Gold News: Monday, Nov. 29 – Gold’s Short-Term Consolidation

The gold futures contract gained 0.07% on Friday, as it fluctuated following the recent declines and a breakdown below the $1,800 level. The market sold off in a reaction to strengthening U.S. dollar and volatile stock prices, among other factors. This morning gold is extending its short-term consolidation. The yellow metal continues to trade below $1,800 level, as we can see on the daily chart (the chart includes today’s intraday data):

Gold is virtually flat this morning, as it trading along its Friday’s closing price. What about the other precious metals? Silver is 0.5% higher, platinum is 1.3% higher and palladium is 2.4% higher. So precious metals’ prices are mixed this morning.

Today we will get the Pending Home Sales release and some Fed-talk later in the day, including a speech from the Fed Chair Powell.
