Crime-fighting drone

It’s not a bird, or a plane, or even Superman…

It’s a new crime-fighting drone developed to be a “flying security guard.”

A startup, Aptonomy, Inc., has created a self-flying drone to help combat robberies an break-ins.

The technology is built on top of an octocopter called the DJ1 S-1000+, which is often used for shooting movies.

According to TechCrunch, the drone will include autonomous, navigational and …

… facial-recognition technologies.

Other features include night-vision cameras and loudspeakers, so controllers can speak to potential intruders.

The drone can also be programmed to respond when motion detectors are activated in an area.

This “flying security guard” is also smart enough to know when its batteries are low, and can fly back to its base station to recharge.
