Country singer Travis Tritt cancels shows at venues requiring COVID vaccines or masks

Travis Tritt has canceled four concerts at venues that require attendees to wear masks or show proof they have been vaccinated against COVID-19.

The famous country music singer said he was “putting my money where my mouth is” when he announced his decision Monday.

“Any show I have booked that discriminates against concert-goers by requiring proof of vaccination, a COVID test, or a mask is being canceled immediately,” Tritt said. “Many people are taking a firm stand against these mandates around the country, and I wholeheartedly support that cause.”

The following concerts were canceled: Oct. 23 in Muncie, Indiana; Nov. 6 in Philadelphia, Mississippi; Nov. 11 in Peoria, Illinois; and Nov. 13 in Louisville, Kentucky.

In August, the “It’s a Great Day to be Alive” singer said he opposed entertainment companies announcing policies and mandates as he called on “Americans to stand up for freedom and against discrimination.”

Tritt said Monday he will only be supporting venues and promoters who offer fans “the freedom of choice.”

“This is a sacrifice that I’m willing to make to stand up for the freedoms that generations of Americans have enjoyed for their entire lifetimes,” he said.

Tritt said he is “not against the vaccine” but noted fans were disappointed with COVID-19 safety protocols at the Brooks & Dunn Reboot Tour he was a part of this year, according to Billboard.
