Forget coffee in a cup, we want our coffee served in a cone.

The most Instagrammed coffee in the world can be found at @thegrindza at @melrosearch #coffeeinacone

Johannesburg-based barista Dayne Levinrad has revolutionized the coffee game by combining ice cream, coffee, and chocolate into one product. After spending four years as a coffee consultant in Brazil, Los Angeles, and Australia, Levinrad returned to his native South Africa to open The Grind Coffee Company, which serves the revolutionary coffee drink.

In order to prevent the cone from leaking, Levinrad and his team began rolling their own wafer cones, using four different chocolate compounds to create the hard chocolate linings inside the cone. Drink up, though, as after about 10 minutes, the coffee will melt through the chocolate, creating a mess not safe for Instagram.

It was Levingrad’s understanding of social media that allowed the concept to become such a viral hit. He created the #CoffeeInACone hashtag, which has since been used on Instagram over a million times since the cone’s debut in January.

“We used the cone as a way to become an Instagrammable product. When people come in they take a selfie and tag #coffeeinacone,” Levinrad told CNN.

While Levinrad’s cone is under patent, coffee shops all over the world have begun serving their own version of #CoffeeInACone.
