Chrissy Teigen and John Legend Both Almost Lost a Finger After This Kitchen Disaster

She may make cooking look easy, but Chrissy Teigen says she is no stranger to kitchen disasters.

The cookbook author recalled a time when she was hosting a football watching party with husband John Legend, and the two were preparing the scalloped potatoes from her book Cravings. To save time slicing, they decided to use a mandoline.

“I gave John the task, and within the first three swipes, he cut the tip of his finger clean off,” she told Delish. “He refused medical attention because of whatever was happening at that point in the game, so I told him to go sit and let me ‘show him how it’s done.'”

Despite her confidence, things didn’t end well for Teigen either. “First swipe—first!—I sliced off the exact same finger tip,” she said. And there’s even proof. “We have a great photo of us both at the urgent care center,” she added. (Now we just need to convince Teigen to share it with the world.)

Luckily, the couple’s finger fiasco has not held them from whipping up the savory side — a recipe from her mom, Pepper — again and again. “It’s my ultimate comfort food,” she says. “I love it. It makes people so happy.”
