Chris Meloni Finally Lands Buyer for New York City Spread

SELLERS: Chris Meloni and Sherman Williams
LOCATION: New York City, NY
PRICE: $8,950,000
SIZE: 2,977 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: After more than three years on and off the market and more than $3 million in price chops, former “Law & Order: SVU” star Chris Meloni has finally, as first reported by the Daily News, landed a buyer for his family’s high-floor apartment at The Park Imperial complex on New York City’s West 56th Street. The brawny, steely eyed actor — he appeared this year in the star-studded Netflix series “Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp” and will star next year in the slavery era series “Underground” — and his interior designer wife, Sherman Williams, purchased the Midtown apartment in June of 2005 for $5.45 million per property records. The 2,977-square foot apartment, configured with three bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, was featured in Architectural Digest in 2008 and the comely couple put the place up for sale in March 2012 with an even-steven but wildly optimistic $12 million asking price. The price plummeted to $9.95 million before the unit was taken off the market and listed with another broker in late June (2015) with an even lower and final price tag of $8.95 million.

The 60th floor residence, which carries $8,355 monthlies for taxes and common charges and boasts north views over Central Park that will most certainly be obscured by the currently under construction tower going up at 220 Central Park South, includes a bedroom-sized central foyer and a nearly 450-square foot corner living/dining room with floor to ceiling windows on two walls. An adjoining den could easily be pressed into use as a dining room or converted to a fourth bedroom and the sleekly finished kitchen features sapele and cherry wood paneling, slab stone counter tops, high-grade stainless steel appliances, and a four-stool snack counter. Two en-suite guest and family bedrooms anchor the western end of the unit and, located for maximum privacy at the opposite end of the apartment, a sprawling master bedroom with views to the north and east comprises a roomy sitting room, two windowless bathrooms, and four closets.

The Meloni-Williams somewhat briefly owned an 8,063-square-foot mansion on almost four bucolic acres in hoity-toity New Canaan, CT, that they picked up in August 2012 for $4.381 million and sold at a loss in December 2014 for $4.3 million. Just a few months before they sold their New Canaan residence, the couple made an under-the-radar $5.25 million purchase of a Hollywood historic residence in the foothills above Hollywood that was formerly the real life and on-camera home of Ozzie and Harriet Nelson.
